Letter from Marcia and Monica to Surrey Clubs - November 2020
Monica and Marcia are writing to you all just to let you know we are STILL HERE! And we hope that you and your families are managing to keep well and cheerful at the moment.
Sadly Surrey Area News hasn’t been here for a year now but we want to assure you that it hasn’t gone to sleep. We were just about to send the summer issue to press in March when Lock Down happened so there are some items still relevant. Of course all this years’ major floral events didn’t happen - Floramania, Chelsea, Wisley - all put away till, hopefully, next year. So we will be looking for items to take their place.
Now we’re quite sure that over the last 7+ months you haven’t been sitting on your hands; your scissors have not rusted in the drawer; your sewing needles have not blunted or knitting needles lost their clack! No. From what we have heard, many of you have been exceedingly busy using your skills and creativity, energy and goodwill to make and take and provide useful and essential items and services to others. Many flower clubs have held regular workshops and galleries for their members, some are even having on line shows and others have used ‘our new best friend Zoom’ to great effect.
We’re asking you NOT to hide your ‘lights under a bushel ‘ but to let us know all about the things that have kept you going in these past few months. They don’t have to be flowery activities , merely send them to us with a few photos a short write up. We want to celebrate the ingenuity and kind - heartedness of our members.
Please send your contributions to our changed email: editorsurreynafas@ gmail.com / firstname.lastname@example.org. or email@example.com
We look forward to hearing from you.
